Irish Guitar

While the guitar is often heard in a traditional Irish music session, it's role until relatively recent times was primarily one of accompaniment. Today the guitar as a melodic voice or lead instrument can be heard singing and swinging the music of many countries through the medium of jazz, bluegrass, latin, flamenco etc.

As a melodic voice in Irish Music however, it has not been so often heard or recorded.

I am indebted to generations of Irish Musicians, past and present for inspiring me to attempt to express our music through my chosen instrument - the guitar.

The Isles of Lough Key and Una Bhan (pronounced wawn), see (Legend of Una Bhan) are two pieces of music by me. The Isles of Lough Key is an original composition, while Una Bhan is an arrangement of an old Irish air by Frank Simon recorded to CD and available from this site.
